090117	Il Pentamerone; or, The Tale of Tales is a collection Neapolitan fairy tales. The tales were recorded and adapted by Giambattista Basile. This is the Richard Burton translation. Posted for now is the Introduction, Day One, Tale One, Two and Three, and Day Four, Tale Six. Additional tales will be posted as time permits, or as requested.
090103	The Ocean of Story, or Kathasaritsagara, is a large story collection from India. Many familure themes and stories can be found in it. India is a source of many of the Arabian Nights tales and the Ocean of Story is one of those possible sources. This begins the process of putting the Ocean on-line. To start, we have the dedicatory preface to C.H. Tawney, the Foreword, and the Introduction. Chapters will be uploaded as they are prepared.
081231	A collection of tales, given as "being tales omitted in the usual editions of the Arabian Nights." Edited by Sylvanus Hanley: Caliphs and Sultans. Hanley does not provide any notes or comments on the tales beyond a short Preface. Tales are derived mainly from Scott, Lambe, Chavis & Cazote, von Hammer and Lane.
081230	An early example of the Sindbad story adapted for children's reading: The Voyages and Travels of Sindbad the Sailor. Illustrated. Note how Sindbad's adventures have been significantly toned down. Aside from a little bit of grave robbing, Sindbad comes off as a pretty nice guy. Compare these voyages with Burton's version.
