Synopsis:
|
She was young, very beautiful, and very drunk. I found her sitting on my doorstep. "They're going to kill me," she said.
It was two o'clock in the morning, and I was in no mood for games. "Look, honey, it's late and this happens to be my appartment, not my office. Even a private detective needs some privacy. Tomorrow, huh?"
And then I looked at her eyes. Under the blueness and alcohol was fear, real fear. "Come on in," I said. "I'll make some coffee and we'll talk it over."
It was a good thing we did. Because that was the last time anybody would talk--or do anything else--with the most exciting woman I'd ever known.
